The attorneys and staff at Pickrel, Schaeffer and
Ebeling are knowledgeable and experienced in providing
legal advice to assist clients after the death of a
loved one. After a death, clients welcome not only the
legal expertise but the reassurance, information and
guidance that our attorneys and support staff provide
during this emotional and sometimes confusing time
period. Our firm works efficiently with family and/or
friends to organize financial information and determine
how the assets should flow according to law.
We are educated in federal Gift and Estate Tax laws and
Ohio Estate Tax laws, and use that information in the
planning and administration of estates and trusts after
death. We prepare and file Federal and Ohio Estate tax
returns and Federal Gift tax returns for clients when
needed. We can also prepare estate or trust income tax
returns, if desired by the client. The tax laws keep
changing so we keep informed of the most recent
developments in tax laws in this area in order to
minimize our client’s tax liability.
After a death of a business owner, we frequently work
with the family and co-owners of the deceased business
owner regarding general management decisions, tax
planning, strategic planning, change in directors or
officers and implementation of a buyout arrangement.
We can advise you on administering the following:
Probate administration of Wills
Administration of
trusts
Advice and filing of returns for estate and
gift taxes and income taxes
Business and business
succession
Post-mortem planning/decision-making,
including consideration of Disclaimers
Will contest
and Will construction litigation
We work conscientiously with our clients to make sure
that a decedent’s estate planning goals are
accomplished. Further, many surviving spouses and other
family members update their planning at this time. With
a combined 135 years of experience, our attorneys work
diligently to see that assets are transferred to
beneficiaries as efficiently and quickly as possible. |
