Jon is a shareholder with the Firm who has practiced in corporate, general business, business transactions, complex financing, and real estate areas for over 32 years. His real estate practice encompasses a vast array of matters, including complex commercial transactions (such as the sale and purchase of large retail/mixed-use properties) and acting as counsel for apartment and commercial shopping center clients. He is also an Ohio-licensed title agent with Chicago Title Insurance Company. Jon has had involvement in zoning and land use planning and regulation issues with clients who own significant commercial properties throughout the Miami Valley area and elsewhere in the United States. His experience with commercial transactions allows Jon to act as a mediator of business disputes.

With his thorough knowledge of commercial business and real estate transactions, Jon is able to examine all sides of a situation and provide sound advice to avoid court proceedings and project delays. Jon has successfully completed exams in all subject areas required to qualify for placement on the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales.

Jon has represented several area commercial banks, including Fifth-Third Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, PNC Bank, JPMorgan Chase Bank, and Civista Bank. In this capacity, Jon has drafted the necessary loan and security documents for complex financing transactions and has supervised the closings for those transactions. He has represented clients involved in both taxable and tax-exempt bond financing. Jon has represented many clients that issue SBA loans, including 501(c)(3) entities. In addition, Jon is an SBA Certified Closing Attorney. He is general counsel for and represents community development corporations in, the areas of economic development and housing activities.

Jon’s practice has also involved working with local governments, including Washington Township and the cities of Dayton, Kettering, Centerville, Beavercreek, Moraine, West Carrollton, and Fairborn, Ohio. This experience includes the representation of clients in contractual matters with the cities, including real estate purchases and leases between municipalities and school districts, as well as contractual and licensing issues with third parties.

Jon’s clients frequently consult him on contract law issues, including construction and professional service agreements with owners, contractors, and architects for major commercial real estate developments in the Miami Valley.
