IRS extends acceptance of digital signatures through June 2021

The IRS will accept digital signatures on emailed documents through June 30, 2021.
In March 2020, the IRS announced that IRS employees would temporarily deviate from established procedures and accept scanned or photographed images of signatures and digital signatures on tax documents. IRS employees will also temporarily receive documents from and transmit documents to taxpayers via email using messaging systems such as SecureZIP.
The new extension to accept digital scanned, photographed, and digital signatures on emailed documents ends June 30, 2021. If you have any questions or comments regarding federal or state income taxes, please contact your tax attorney at 937-223-1130 or Jsenney@pselaw.com.
