Pickrel, Schaeffer and Ebeling normally employs 1-2 third year law students during the academic year from September through May. Available positions are posted in early August at the University of Dayton School of Law, Office of Career Services and interviews are conducted in early September. Applications are also accepted from students of any area law school who meet the job requirements.
Pickrel, Schaeffer and Ebeling normally employs one full time summer associate who has completed their second year of law school. Openings are posted at all Ohio and regional law schools and applications are accepted from any accredited law school regardless of state. Applications are generally accepted through approximately mid-October and interviews scheduled either in Dayton or at the student’s school over the next several months with a final decision before the end of the calendar year prior to summer employment.
The law clerk will enjoy a challenging and wide variety of assignments from each of the firm’s practice groups. Though predominantly research in nature, the assignments will allow the clerk to exercise a great deal of initiative, responsibility and provide interaction with the attorneys of the firm. All attorneys have an “open door” and will readily work with and assist the law clerk in understanding and completing the assignment. A respectful collegial atmosphere exists between the firm’s attorneys and clerk(s) and frequently the clerk is included in the firm’s social functions.
All law clerk applicants are expected to present:
